Main Function:
The candidate is expected to lead the design, development, testing and delivery of technical solutions in partnership with the Project Manager and Business Facing IT within the surveillance space of Compliance IT. He/she will build in-depth knowledge of both the technical and business aspects of the systems and become well-versed in the business functions supported by the systems. Leading an application group within the larger team would see the candidate share their expertise with other team members. The candidate will be responsible for quality of the teams work.
The successful candidate will have soft skills to complement their in depth technical knowledge. The candidate will have relevant functional and technical skills and experience to lead a development team to produce quality deliverables in a timely fashion. The candidate will also be involved in additional team lead activities including mentoring, planning and assigning work items, input to status reviews, communicating with clients and senior management.
The candidate will be expected to proactively improve their skills and take on greater responsibilities as they grow into their role. There are significant opportunities for career development and training.
Main Duties:
• Delivers functionality based on business need utilising the team to its full potential. The following is included:
• Work closely with Project Manager and Business Facing IT
• Take a Lead role in architectural design, documentation and estimations
• Lead and develop team to maximise potential
• Asses and review system designs produced by team members
• Ensure team members adhere to SDLC and Change Control processes
• Code reviews
• Work with team and testers to verify solutions
Experience and Skills required:
• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Management or related discipline and/or professional certification
• Excellent communicator (English) both written and verbally
• Self starter who can work alone or as member of team
• Excellent understanding of SDLC especially working in an off-shored environment
• 10+ years development experience preferably in investment bank Compliance IT
• 8+ years as hands on Technical Back End Oracle PL/SQL Developer (9i/10g) & Database design (Oracle)
• 4+ years Informatica or other ETL
• 3+ years as Business or Technical Analyst
• 2+ years experience Business Objects
• 2+ years Team Leading
• 2+ years Unix/Shell Scripting
• 2+ years doing code reviews
• 2+ years SQL performance tuning
• Basic Knowledge of trade life cycle, investment banking products
• Basic knowledge of batch scheduling tools and monitoring (Autosys)
