Department Overview:
The Global Derivative Shared Services IT team is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of derivative confirmation and payments systems globally. The development team in Singapore is a part of the Global Software Development Centre and works in collaboration with a team in London.
Main Function:
Design, develop and maintain derivative confirmation and payments applications in C#, VB6, Java and Sybase / SQL Server under the direction of a development manager.
Technical Responsibilities:
Analysis & Design:
• Requirements analysis for system enhancements and changes
• Interpretation and understanding of functional specifications
• Prepare design documents adhering to predefined standards
Code:
• Hands on design & development of applications, delivering the functionality detailed in the functional specifications
• Ensuring code written meets the predefined company and department standards
• Tuning existing applications to ensure acceptable performance
Quality Assurance:
Conducting peer reviews and providing constructive feedback
Testing:
• Prepare & execute detailed unit test cases and document results
• Providing support during System Test, UAT and Regression Test phases
• Diagnosis and resolution of defects found during System Test, UAT and Regression Test phases
Implementation:
• Prepare release plans
• Manage the walk-through and knowledge transfer to support team
Post-Implementation:
Point of contact for support team, investigating and resolving issues found in production
Communication Responsibilities
• Communicate effectively with business analysts and project managers, understanding detailed business requirements at all stages of the development lifecycle
• Communicate directly with business users to gain an in-depth understanding of new requirements and minor system changes
• Work closely with development team members in London and Singapore, participating in and contributing to technical discussions
• Manage vendor communications if required
Experience required:
• 6+ years of solid experience in application development & Excellent programming skills in C#, VB6, Sybase, MS SQL Server.
• Understanding of client server 2-tier or 3-tier architecture.
• Strong fundamentals in object oriented design principles.
• Hands-on experience of Perforce or other enterprise source control tools.
• Experience working in the investment banking / investment management industry.
• Business knowledge on the capital markets.
• Experience with the OTC derivative confirmation business strongly desired.
• Experience working in a globally distributed, multi-cultural environment.
• Knowledge of Java, Oracle is preferred.
