Main Function:
Lead the Java development team to deliver Equity Derivatives solutions in partnership with IT and business counterparts in New York, London and Asia.
Main Duties:
Development Manager Role, with hands-on technical leadership of a development team to deliver Equity Derivatives software solutions agreed with business and IT counterparts.
Responsibilities include:
• Agreeing the scope of work with internal clients
• Providing estimates of effort and delivery timeline
• Design of the technical solution and code reviews.
• Managing the development through the software life cycle.
• Work with testers to verify the solution
• Rework defects and take part in defect analysis
• Delivering against commitment
• Staying abreast of risks to delivery and mitigating the same.
• Communicating status and issues appropriately.
• Working with the Production services team to ensure smooth operations as and when required.
Team management:
• Provide technical leadership to the Java development team (between 5 and 10 developers)
• Day-to-day line management of team members
• Recruitment and induction of new team members
• Coaching and mentoring on technical and business domain issues.
• Enhancing the derivatives domain expertise of the team.
Experience/Skills Required:
Business:
Must have worked in investment banking for at least 6 years, on at least two of the following functions, with derivatives (any type):
o Pricing
o Risk management
o Trade repository
o Trade capture
o Specific knowledge of equity derivatives products
Technical expertise:
• More than 9 years developing Java/J2ee applications of which the last 6 years in developing applications in an Investment Bank
• OO Design
• XML / XSLT / Java WebServices / Oracle PL SQL
• Knowledge of any caching products (Coherence preferred)
• Good knowledge of Java Performance Tuning
• Preferred Tools: Clearcase / Perforce / Cruise control (Continuous Integration) / Maven / Eclipse
• Good understanding of messaging technologies like JMS / MQ Series

- Highly effective verbal and written English communication skills
